Hello Parents,
If you were unable to attend our meeting last night please take a look at some of the things we discussed!
-First Trimester runs from October - December 25th (pretty much our Christmas Concert) each Trimester averages 10 weeks and included two 30 minute rehearsals (group lesson, and an ensemble rehearsal)
-Students can choose to stop or switch instruments at any time! We encourage them to try it for a year however we will be happy to help them transition to another instrument if they wish to!
-Students staying for a 4pm lesson are welcome to come to Mr. Myers room at dismissal and quietly work on homework until their lesson starts.
-All students must be picked up after their lesson, or have notified Mr. Myers that they will be going to C.A.R.E.S
-Students must purchase a book for their instrument (band and strings use Essential Elements 2000) Guitar players please get Mel Bay Guitar 1 book
-Violin Players will need adjustable chin rests so we can position their violins for proper posture and positioning (These will come with the rentals from Coles Music)
-You can Mail in or Hand in hard copies of the rental contracts to Cole's Music Service, or use their SECURE website to fill out rentals online at Cole's Music
-Guitars may be purchased at local music shops (Deluca Music, or Music and Arts) Mr. Dair recommends Fender Stratocasters for students with smaller hands. They are electric guitars which use lighter strings and are a bit easier to play. If your student wishes to play Acoustic, nylon strings are much more hand friendly, or feel free to try out a few regular acoustic steel strings. All guitars are the same notes so we will teach them on whatever they choose!
-If you choose to purchase a Woodwind, Brass, or Orchestral String instrument please email me (Mr. Myers) and I will be happy to help you find a student quality instrument.
-We are hoping to start ASAP! Please have your lesson flyers turned in by October 1st, (we will accept them as late as the 4th but please get them in as early as possible) and submit your rental contracts or purchase your instruments by early October as well.
-Winter Concert is DECEMBER 12th in the church hall, and will feature all three of our ensembles as well as some delicious cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate!
Please contact me with ANY and all questions, we are so excited to start this years program and cannot wait to see everyone at our winter show.
-Mr. Myers
